Funding Your Success

At The University of Texas at Tyler, student success is top priority, and we realize that a key to your academic success is the financial aid opportunities available to you.

Our Funding Your Success program offers qualified students financial assistance to help meet their higher education goals.

"Our objective is to make sure that all East Texans continue to have access to a quality UT Tyler education that will make extra earning power and a higher standard of living possible."

Education Affordability Grant Program

The UT Tyler Education Affordability Grant Program was created to provide assistance to Texas resident students with unmet financial need, who do not qualify for the TEXAS Grant or Be-On-Time Programs.

To qualify, students must:

  1. be classified as a Texas resident, degree-seeking, full-time student at UT Tyler (undergraduate or graduate) through the 20th class day of the term.
  2. have documented, unmet financial need, as derived from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the appropriate academic year (FAFSA).
  3. maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid

Recipients of a tuition exemption or TEXAS Grant or Be-On-Time are not eligible for participation in this program.  Transient, concurrent or TeleCampus enrollment at institutions other than UT Tyler will not meet the requirement for participation in this program.

  1. will range in value from $500 to $1000 per regular (fall or spring) semester, depending upon funding levels and availability
  2. can be used toward educational expenses of any kind, excluding deposits
  3. will be applied to the student’s account upon their full-time enrollment for a regular semester.  (The award will be applied to any outstanding balances on the student account.  Any unused funds will be issued to the student on the same schedule as other financial aid grants.)

Inquiries about the Education Affordability Grant Program should be directed to UT Tyler’s Financial Aid Office.

Weekend Course Tuition Rebate Program
Students who complete designated lecture or lab courses during off-peak times could be eligible for a rebate of up to $100 per designated course. The list of courses eligible for the rebate will be posted on the University’s Web site, in the Registrar’s Office and in the Schedule of Classes.

  1. be enrolled for at least one designated course that starts after  5 p.m. Fridays during a fall or spring semester.
  2. complete the designated course(s) with at least a grade of  “C” for undergraduate or a “B” for graduate courses. (Grades of CR, I or P do not meet the requirement for this rebate.)

Rebates for designated courses that are less than three (3) credit hours will be prorated accordingly.

Independent study courses, practicums and/or internships do not qualify for this program.

You are ineligible for this program if you are:

  • an employee of UT Tyler or UTHCT
  • a recipient of the UT Tyler Employee Dependent Scholarship or a tuition exemption.

Rebate credit of $100 for each designated course is applied to the student’s account at the conclusion of the semester. The credit will be applied to any outstanding balances on the student account first and a check for any remaining funds will be mailed to the student at the address on file with the University, on the same schedule as refunds for the following semester.

Inquiries regarding the Weekend Course Tuition Rebate Program should be directed to UT Tyler’s Registrar’s Office.

Working to Success Institutional Work Study Program
The Working to Success Program provides our student population with more opportunities to work on-campus while pursuing their higher education goals, as well as provides more staffing to assist the additional administrative and academic needs of our growing campus.

Working to Success funding provides a 50% match, up to $1000 per semester or summer, to departmental funds for students without financial need or exhausted Federal or State Work Study funding.

To qualify, students must:

  1. be a regular, degree-seeking, full-time student (a minimum of 12 credit hours for undergraduates or 9 credit hours for graduate students) at UT Tyler during the period of employment.  Summer enrollment requires six (6) credit hours of enrollment at UT Tyler for either undergraduate or graduate students.  (Transient, concurrent or TeleCampus enrollment at institutions other than UT Tyler will not meet the requirement for participation in this program.)
  2. have a complete financial aid file on record for the appropriate academic year.
  3. maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid. (UT Tyler’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy is available from the Financial Aid Office or on our Web site.)
  4. NOT be eligible for the Federal or Texas Work Study Programs, either because of exhausted funding or lack of financial need.

Inquiries about the Working To Success Program should be directed to UT Tyler’s Financial Aid Office.
